Formula of love for prisoners of marriage A gender comedy about men and for men, with a speaking title and aptly hitting the relevance of everything raised in the dialogues - "What Men Talk About." The film tells about four friends who decided to take a break from the pressing problems of life: family, work, everyday routine, children and wives. They rush to Odessa for a concert of the group Bi-2, along the way thinking aloud about almost everything, from the meaning of life to female logic. And all this in a comedic-ironic rich shade with an emphasis on sharp dialogue.
“Quartet-I” is characterized by a special emphasis on phrases, not on action, and therefore the overall plot of the film here could easily replace sitting at the table. If all the timekeeping heroes did not go to the concert, and drank beer in the kitchen, nothing would change. Important here is the meaning of the words spoken, demonstrating the way of thinking of middle-aged men on a variety of topics, and the number of participants helps to enter into conflicts and express different points of view on the same problem. In general, it turned out a visual and acoustic manual on male psychology and way of thinking, which, although it can scare away while watching women and girls, is recommended including them, although the movie is clearly made for those about whom it actually tells.
Helping to understand the male worldview, such a movie can affect relationships, adding a pinch of mutual understanding between the cases, explaining various nuances, actions, reactions of an adult to certain events. For men, this film will prove that they are not alone and many around them in the hall and on the screen think almost the same, with the same phrases, have a similar perception and picture of the world. This film will help women understand men and understand their way of thinking, as complex as they are for the male half are mysteries. And slightly erasing this facet of gender misunderstanding, the film manages to carry something relevant, kind, bright.
Kourtnev’s preliminary introduction, in one of the four stellar interviews and reflections that occur as the simple plot progresses, already lies the main key to understanding and perceiving the film. As soon as the viewer himself, for any reason, asks this “why?” in a similar situation, he will immediately be ready to watch such a film. Young people think mostly in a completely different way, and to look at a bunch of grown men discussing which of them, I quote - "scumbag", who is a glamorous snob, and who is a confident bachelor - can be quite tedious, and the lack of action and richness of events can drive into boredom. With a volumetric amount of abuse, the film also discourages the possibility of family viewing, and married couples are better off watching such a movie separately, since men will see one thing in it, and women a little different and approach the issues raised from completely different angles. This is not a romcom and a magical fairy tale, this is such a life movie that this very realism can even scare away and cause reluctance to load other people's problems on their heads, if they have their own, and brighten up loneliness does not mean consolation.
And, perhaps, of all the monologues, many of which are filled with a successful formulation of phrases and thoughts, it is worth highlighting one of the hotel rooms, when one of the characters considers all the sides of the midlife crisis at once, trying to understand the options and does not come to anything as a result, just remaining before choice and philosophical reflection. This is the result of a movie, although it falls into the realities of the worldview, but does not give an answer to any of the questions posed, thereby dumping the burden of responsibility on the viewer, who simply may not be ready for such a thing.
If you do not bother yourself, but consider the characters of the film in detachment from the real world, then you can get much more pleasure and laughter, not thinking about anything, but catching the right and close to yourself, as if succumbing to what was said from the screen and enjoying the positive charge of humor. The whole boltology of the film pulls the necessary strings, leaves the desired trace and risks breaking into quotes with especially successful statements.
Prisoners of the office, marriage, problems with the simultaneous cultivation of several girls and other ordinary male worries, get the opportunity to have fun, taste the love of life and freedom, and live a little for themselves - to become themselves for a while, without concessions, obligations and compromises. “What Men Talk About” is a kind of love formula for prisoners of marriage, everyday routine and household cares, an encyclopedia of options for finding meaning and answers to eternal boiling questions. The formula of love for life, for friendly communication, for oneself and the desire to know oneself, to get to the true feelings. And everyone who wants to get away from their problems for at least a couple of hours will find understanding, help and even, probably, a short course of male psychotherapy in this film, after which he will gather with friends, and if not for a concert of his favorite band, then at least for fishing or in the bath. At men's gatherings, where you can talk about the same topics in the same way.
And there is no need for already glossy discos, a bunch of long-forgotten school “girlfriends”, to sleep with whom it was not possible, you can and should just have fun in the good company of “their”, close in spirit. The movie will slide into the advertising of the club “Ibiza”, PR of the new album Bi-2, about which the first third of the heroes will already buzz all their ears, and the furious and demonstrative beating of craving for modern art on the example of a funny exhibition of such Captain Obvious – with “a pile of garbage”, and “two triangles: red and removed”, where even the inscription “toilet does not work” introduces into a stupor, or another delusion art in front of us, or a real sign for visitors. Missel and gloss are superfluous, as is the entire plotline required for the opportunity to be called a film work, and not shooting drunken gatherings. At the same time, it is really able to attract public interest to Odessa, to the Ibiza club and the work of a modern Russian rock band, if the viewer likes the music and video in its most vivid visual moments.
Fans of “Quartet-I” and such creativity will not leave upset, the film will certainly be successful with its viewer, and the viewer will surely find it. And Zhanna Friske and several other attractive star names, like Kourtnev, Utkin and Makarevich, may attract their viewer with their small presence in the frame and presence in the casting, will express a couple of clever thoughts and raise the mood of the audience, because the comedy should be funny - and "What Men Talk About" - a really funny comedy!
